The Lord Chancellor has confirmed that the law on surrogacy will be reviewed
Following a landmark ruling on a surrogacy case led by Elizabeth Isaacs QC and Adem Muzaffer, from St Ives Chambers, and Natalie Gamble and her team from NGA Law, it has been confirmed that the Law Commission will review the law on surrogacy.
In a press release on 14th December, the Law Commission confirmed that a project on surrogacy would be one of 14 new projects reviewed as part of the 13th Programme of Law Reform.
The Commission has focused on reforms which will reduce unfairness for the citizen and those which will help to enhance the UK’s competitiveness internationally following our exit from the European Union.
Other areas to be reviewed include residential leasehold, driverless cars and smart contracts. For further details click here.
