Owen Thomas QC and Kate Hughes QC join Family Team as Door Tenants

We are delighted to welcome Owen Thomas QC and Kate Hughes QC who join our Family Team as Door Tenants from 9 Park Place in Cardiff.

Owen, who was called to the Bar in 1994 and took silk in 2018, is a specialist in the law relating to children. He is the Head of the Family Team at 9 Park Place. His recent cases of note in the Court of Appeal, the High Court and the Family Court have involved allegations of murder, sexual abuse factitious and induced illnesses, non-accidental (including head) injuries and burns.

Kate was called to the Bar in 1989 and took silk in 2021. She specialises in all aspects of public and private law children work. Her cases include allegations of significant deliberately inflicted injuries, death, penetrative sexual abuse and poisoning.

Both Owen and Kate are consistently ranked as leading practitioners by the legal directories.
