St Ives Chambers’ Health and Well-being Week 2018

St Ives Chambers’ Health and Well-being week ran from Monday 21st May to Friday 25th with an aim to provide all members of chambers and staff with opportunities to explore different ways of enhancing everyday well-being via a programme of activities throughout the week.

Birmingham Legal Walk

We incorporated the 10k walk around Birmingham into our Health and Well-Being week to promote exercise as part of a healthy balanced lifestyle. Our walkers enjoyed the walk in the sunshine and it was a great way to kick-start Health and Well-being week whilst raising money for The Midland Legal Support Trust.

Art Therapy

Art therapy encourages people to express and understand emotions through artistic expression and through the creative process. It is usually used as a way to improve a person’s emotional state or mental well-being.

Those who took part commented on how therapeutic they found it and produced some lovely pieces of artwork!

Chair Yoga

In this session, yoga instructor Fran Loretto guided members and staff through a series of breathing and relaxation techniques as well as some simple postures that can be done whilst sat at a desk to release tension and help with day to day stresses.

‘Resilience and Managing Stress’ Seminar

Led by Catherine Holland, coach/mentor, this inspiring talk provided advice on how to manage the stresses and challenges life can throw our way. Catherine described her own experiences and the challenges she has faced in her life and how she grew stronger and more resilient.
