Kevin Saunders defends – Director of waste management company acquitted after 7-week trial in the Crown Court.
Kevin Saunders has recently finished defending in a 7-week trial at the Crown Court in Wolverhampton. The Environment Agency prosecuted his client for alleged breaches of an environmental permit at a waste transfer station on Shaw Road in Dudley.
The Jury returned not guilty verdicts for each of the charges that Mr Saunders’ client faced. The three other Defendants in the trial were convicted of environmental offences and await sentence.
The issues at trial in respect of Mr Saunders’ client included:
- Who was the operator of the waste management site?
- What were the Defendant’s duties as a company director in relation to the environmental permit?
- Did the Defendant consent or connive in breaches of the environmental permit?
- Were any breaches of the environmental permit attributable to the neglect of the Defendant?
