Do victims of domestic abuse need more support? Have we seen an increase in the issue of domestic abuse in the family courts as result of the Covid pandemic? Fact finding hearings are becoming common place in private law disputes. But are social workers and lawyers getting it right? Are we dealing correctly with survivors? Can we/should we do more? Is the system in the family and criminal courts at odds with the needs of victims? Is the welfare of the child more important than the welfare of survivors? Jason Hadden will be discussing these issues and others with the first Domestic Abuse Commissioner Nicole Jacobs, St Ives Chambers Michelle Brown an expert in family cases and a Recorder in the criminal courts and Dr Jenny Birchall a Senior Research and Policy Officer at Women’s Aid Federation of England.
