Public Law Children

Eleanor is instructed in both private and public family work. She appears for both applicants and respondents and conducts a wide variety of family advocacy. Eleanor’s practice covers the full range of private law children’s cases from first hearings, to fact-finding hearings and final contested hearings. She regularly appears before both District and Circuit Judges.

Eleanor has been instructed to act in connection with, but not limited to, the following applications:

  • Orders under section 8 of the Children Act 1989
  • Enforcement of contact orders
  • Female Genital Mutilation Protection Orders
  • Declarations of parentage
  • Appeals

Eleanor regularly represents clients seeking non-molestation orders or opposing the same. Eleanor is able to develop a strong rapport with clients by being empathetic and approachable.

Eleanor is also building a public law children’s practice, and regularly represents parents, children, and intervenors. She has been instructed to act in contested interim removal applications and is regularly instructed to make Part 25 applications.

Further Information

Eleanor joined St Ives Chambers as a second six pupil, under the supervision of Jeremy Weston QC, and has been a tenant since November 2017.

During her university studies, Eleanor completed a Stage at the European Court of Justice in the cabinet of Advocate General Eleanor Sharpston, conducting legal research in French. In addition, Eleanor spent a month in Accra, Ghana, working for an NGO Human Rights Project within youth prisons and leading presentations on police corruption and child labour.

Whilst studying for the Bar Professional Training Course, Eleanor represented Lincoln’s Inn at the Imperial Open Debating Competition and was a finalist of the Sir Louis Gluckstein Advocacy Competition, Lincoln’s Inn.
