Areas of Expertise

Alex joined chambers in 2000 and built up a successful practice of criminal and regulatory law.  He prosecuted (CPS Levels 3 and 4 and rape list) and defended a wide range of cases including fraud, serious violence and murder, sexual offences, proceeds of crime confiscation and benefit fraud. He also defended in private motoring matters.  He has frequently appeared in the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division) and the Administrative Court (Queen’s Bench Division) on behalf of the prosecuting authorities and on behalf of the defence.

In 2010 Alex and his family moved to London.  Alex then changed his focus and built up his practice as a Legal Assessor to various healthcare regulatory fitness to practise tribunals.  He also spends much of his time sitting as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) and a fee-paid Tribunal Judge (Social Entitlement Chamber).

Alex is currently a Door Tenant at St Ives Chambers.
