Members of this group regularly appear in Employment Tribunals in the Midlands and across the country (and in the Employment Appeal Tribunal) covering all types of unfair and constructive dismissal claims, discrimination and victimisation claims, Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations claims and breach of contract proceedings. Group members act for both Applicants and Respondents accordingly.

In the High/County Court, members of the group are involved in breach of contract actions, injunctive proceedings, actions for damages and actions arising out of negligence in the workplace i.e. negligent references, health and safety and personal injury claims. Most members of the Group are also members of the Employment Lawyer’s Association and the Employment Bar Association.

Whilst counsels are instructed for their advocacy experience, the importance of advisory work is never overlooked. Conferences can be arranged to suit the needs of our busy clients and can take place during the day or in the late afternoon after court.

Members endeavour to return paperwork within a reasonable time and are available to do urgent work if necessary even at very short notice. Urgent instructions can be received by e-mail and a response can be given via the same medium.

Some members of the group are experienced in presenting seminars and discussion groups to both legal staff and HR officers on a variety of topics. If you feel that this would be of interest to you please do not hesitate to contact Chambers.

Whilst the group undertakes Applicant work, it also has an extensive Respondent client base, which includes local authorities, high street banks, in house legal departments of Plc’s as well as receiving instructions from solicitors in private practice.

We acknowledge that cost is often an important factor when instructing counsel. Counsel can be instructed for a Tribunal only, on short notice, or can be involved in cases from an early stage, drafting Notices of Appearance, Opinions, approving witness statements and attending on interlocutory hearings if required. The Group offers ‘menu pricing’ for standard cases, which can assist in trying to estimate the costs to the lay client.
