The Criminal Law Groups members meet regularly,
to exchange ideas and consider new developments in criminal law
in a structured forum.
Our Leading and Junior Counsel cover all aspects of criminal work
across the whole range of criminal courts. This includes privately
funded defence work as well as cases funded by the Legal Services
Commission. Prosecutions are conducted on behalf of public authorities
and other agencies, as well as the Crown Prosecution Service.
Every group member recognizes the importance to the lay client of
any criminal charge, however minor. Magistrate court work is not
overlooked, and some of our most experienced Junior Counsel regularly
accept privately funded motoring defence work where the importance
of the outcome can be greatly magnified by an associated high value
civil claim. Whatever the court, whatever the charge, we offer able
and tenacious advocates, who will always remain committed to the
party they represent.
Urgent instructions can be accepted by e-mail, and a response given
by the same medium. So often in criminal cases, critical decisions
fall to be taken at an early stage of an investigation, our practitioners
are happy to offer advice prior to the issue of proceedings, and
by telephone, where needed.
Some members of the group are experienced in presenting seminars
and discussion groups on a variety of topics. If this would be of
interest to you, please do not hesitate to contact Chambers.
The clerks will always be available to advise and assist in the
appropriate allocation of work.
