Michelle Caney is a specialist Chancery and Commercial barrister, with a particular emphasis on cases involving a property element. She has considerable experience in the field and is regularly instructed in complex, high value disputes.

Michelle commercial practice encompasses contractual disputes, banking and finance, sale of goods, personal and corporate insolvency and many aspects of company law. Her chancery practice includes real property, boundary disputes, easements, nuisance, restrictive covenants, probate, trusts and professional negligence.

Michelle has developed a reputation for being meticulously prepared in every case in which she is instructed, whilst retaining a personable and client focused approach. As an advocate, she fights her client's corner robustly, yet manages their expectations sensitively.

Bousefield v. Mitchell [2013] 

- Boundary dispute in the High Court in which Michelle persuaded the Court to grant indemnity costs.  

Wolverhampton City Council v. Shuttleworth [2012]  LTL 13/12/2013

- Michelle successfully appealed to the High Court on a novel point of law concerning introductory tenancies.

Arena Coventry Limited v. Coventry City Football Club Limited [2012]

- High profile litigation in the High Court involving Coventry City Football Club.

Leeds and Yorkshire Housing Association v Vertigan [2010] EWCA Civ 1583

- Michelle successfully opposed an appeal to the Court of Appeal concerning residential possession proceedings.

Training: Michelle regularly presents seminars within the above areas of expertise, either alone or with other members of Chambers.
